Why does the virgin media router show no lights?
As discussed above there may be a certain problem because of that your virgin media router lights are not showing any indication. You can easily find the lights codes above to find out what exactly the problem is.
Here I have shared a general guide of troubleshooting you can do when your router shows no lights. This is a basic troubleshooting and does not require any technician. It also helps if your Wi-Fi keeps on dropping randomly.
Restart your hub
If you turn your system back on and your wifi is not connected. You should try to do a general restart of your router. Push a restart button on the back of your router and wait for 1-2 minutes and switch your hub back on.
Sometimes the router may take more than a while to fully restart. Don’t worry, wait for your router to start automatically and don’t turn off your power supply. If you turn off the power supply of your router in between then it may damage your router.
Your router will start to flash a white light and when it becomes steady then you are ready to use.
Factory reset
Many people have the misconception that restart and reset is the same process but it is totally different. When you restart your device it just turns off your power supply, waits for a few minutes and switches it back on.
But when you reset your router all its configuration is changed to factory default and it becomes a totally new router. All the settings you have done earlier will be automatically erased and set to default setting.
To do a reset you must have a thin paper pin and on the back of your router you will see a small hole.
There is a small button in the hole take a paper pin and press the button and it will automatically reboot your router.
The whole process will take 10 -15 minutes to back on.
Change your routers channels
Channels in the router can also cause problems sometimes, you can change the channels and see if it makes any sense.
Before doing any changes to your router channel do contact your service provider.
Check the ethernet Cable
Using the ethernet cable to your computer is one way I prefer to figure out if the problem is with the wifi or the router itself. If you have a strong ethernet connection but no wifi, you’ve identified where the issue is.
Reset Router Name and Password
Depending upon the type of router you have, you have to reset your router name and password using a separate computer that has the connectivity.
Here you may require a serial number or IP Address which may be present on the back of your router.
Additionally, the default username and password for all the routers are ADMIN and ADMIN.
Update and Restart Computer
If switching on or switching off your router doesn’t work then you should think about upgrading your system to the latest software updates. Don’t forget to update and restart your computer when it’s done. It’s important!
